Materials Not Allowed and General Collection Information
City Wide Cleanups are for residential customers ONLY.
All items to be collected need to be set at the curb prior to 7am the day of the clean up. Waste Connections will only make one pass thru the city, so this is the reason items need to be out prior to the start of the clean up.
We also ask that bagged and boxed items need to be able to be handled by one person safely. That means if you can not pick it up, we will not be able to either. We do ask that brush or yard waste be taken to the brush dump and not put at the curb for pick up.
If you have items left from remodeling or construction jobs, (such as lumber, plaster, drywall, floor covering and roofing material, etc.) it must be in small manageable bundles so one person can lift safely. Keep in mind if you can not lift it, neither can we. Any trash not in the trash cart must be in throwaway containers such as boxes or bags, no more than 30-gallon capacity (no loose piles of trash). No box or bag may exceed 40 pounds in weight.
Car batteries, oil filters, fluorescent light bulbs, propane tanks, any asbestos materials, explosives, paint (we will take empty & dried up paint cans with the lid off so it’s visible), no hazardous liquids (such as fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, diesel fuel, gas, oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze, etc…) and no tires.
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners must be tagged that it is free of CFCs (refrigerant) by a licensed technician, and must have the appropriate paper work with it to be disposed of.
Please remember that the clean up is to help keep our community clean. It is not a way to circumvent the resident from getting an open top container for his/her home remodel or construction job. If you need an open top container for your project, please call 316-838-4920 to get one from Waste Connections
