Planning Commission/ Board of Zoning Appeals
2022 Comprehensive Plan
A steering committee, the planning commission/ Board of Zoning Appeals, and the governing body have been in the process of creating a 20 year plan for the City of Clearwater. The process has included sharing the plan and soliciting of input via two public meeting and public surveys (which included one survey for youth and one for adults). Attached is the “proposed” final draft of the plan. The public is encouraged to read the plan and provide any feedback, to do this you can email City Clerk. The Clearwater Planning Commission/Board of Zoning appeals will be meeting on Tuesday, July 5th to accept the “final” plan. This will be an open meeting held at City Hall starting at 6:30.

Members
The Clearwater Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals consists of seven members. The board is composed of five members who reside within the city limits and two who reside outside the city limits (within the school district boundaries).

Responsibilities
The Clearwater Planning Commission/Board of zoning appeals is responsible for establishing city zoning regulations and recommending alterations to those regulations to City Council. The Commission also reviews and comments on city improvements; plans, plats, or re-plats of subdivisions or re-subdivisions of land; and improvements to public streets and parks.
The Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals is referenced in City Ordinance Number 274 and Section 2-164 of Codified Code and K.SA. 12-701 to 12-715b.
