Ron Marsh grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina, graduating from Beaufort High School in 1982. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Management. His service included duty at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and Ft. Riley, Kansas serving as a Tank Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and as a Division Assistant Training Officer. Ron is also a veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. After leaving the Army he worked as a retail sales manager, a temp agency manager and a procurement specialist in Salina, Kansas. After working for 2 years in Athens, Tennessee he moved his family back to Kansas and Clearwater to be near family. He worked for a small machine shop before going to work at Sedgwick County where he has been the Public Works Administrative Manager for the past 18 years.
Ron has been married to Amy Marsh, a Clearwater native, for 29 years and they have two grown children who both graduated from Clearwater High School. They have lived in Clearwater for 20 years and been active in the community serving on school site councils, fall festival committee, recreation commission and 8 years on the Clearwater School Board, one year as president. For the past two years he served on the Clearwater City Council.
As a sitting member of the City Council, Ron will resign his position as Councilmember the end of November and will assume the role as the City of Clearwater, City Administrator on December 4, 2017. The seat will remain vacant until filled with the upcoming elections.
